Artist on Call
Helium’s Artists on Call service offers hospitals a professional performing artist to facillitate one of a number of purpose designed programmes on a short term basis. Programmes include Freddie & Friends - an innovative puppet making project using hospital equipment to create puppets and The Bedmaker - an intimate bedside performance developed by Helium and produced by Monkeyshine Theatre in parnership with Tallaght Community Arts.
In 2009, Helium facilitated projects in Children's University Hospital, Temple Street; Beaumont Hospital, The Children's Ark Unit, Midwestern Regional Hospital, Limerick; Cork University Hospital; Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, and the National Children's Hospital, Tallaght, as well as a variety of one-off programmes as part of the Children in Hospital Ireland Roadshow and performances of The Bedmaker in local hospitals at Kilkenny Arts Festival and Clonmel Junction Festival.
