Helium’s mission is to transform child health together, through exceptional arts experiences. .
We champion the imagination of children and young people living with illness. We believe the opportunity to use our imagination and express our creativity is fundamental to our well-being. This is the very basis of our work. .
We value a child’s right to be a child, regardless of the setting or the state of their health, and we support a child-centred model of healthcare through the arts.
We value collaboration. We work with professional artists and healthcare providers to deliver our programmes and regard young participants and their families as creative partners in the process.
Helium’s work matters. Our programmes enhance the recovery process and acceptance of surroundings and treatment; increase peer interaction and facilitate relationship-building; contribute to a sense of well-being; and support young people in the development of creative and learning skills.
We aim to uphold the Arts and Health field as a creatively charged environment where artforms can be challenged, enriched, and extended to produce inventive new work which engages with the development of children’s arts in Ireland.
Our vision is that all young people in hospital in Ireland will have the opportunity to explore their creativity through our projects.
